About Me
My Family & My Values
Introduction
My name is Michael Dentico and I am the owner of Dentico Web Solutions. I have a beautiful wife whose name is Lindsay and two amazing children. My oldest is Nicole, the youngest is Thomas. I have created this business to help people and businesses in so many different ways. I will get into that more later. I will warn you there is a lot of reading here on this page, but I didn’t want to leave anything out. Feel free to skim the headers and only read the sections you are interested in.
Personal life
Much of our summers are consumed with camping. We decided to get ourselves a camper a few years back and it is probably one of the best things we have ever done. Most of our summer weekends are spent at camp where we enjoy time away, very similar to a cottage but way more cost-effective. Our kids are definitely outside kids and we do not spend very much time watching TV. Typically the majority of our evenings are spent playing and chasing each other or reading books. Our daughter constantly begs for us to read to her, which is quite amazing.
My father has been a general contractor for the last 30 years and I have learned quite a bit from him, because of that I greatly enjoy working on projects around the house or fabricate furniture in the garage. Anything relating to tools can definitely be classified as up my alley, and I am usually not allowed to go to hardware stores or home improvement stores by myself very often.
In the fall I enjoy heading out for the hunting season, but by no means am I a good hunter. To be honest, I just enjoy being in the woods with nature and to be alone with my thoughts. There is also nothing better than heading out into the wood with nothing more than what is on your back and spending the weekend somewhere that you can only get to by foot or boat.
History
Ever since I’ve started working I have always worked in some sort of customer service-based job. My first real job was at a local grocery store where I first started out bagging groceries and carrying them out for customers. I very quickly had to learn how to talk to people I did not know. Over the years since starting there, customer service had become a passion of mine. I enjoy pushing myself to find every way that I can help someone. One of the most important things that I learned is if you do not know something be honest, tell your customer you do not know but you are going to find out.
While starting this business I am still driving a tractor-trailer. After working an average of 12 hours a day in the trucking world, I come home and work on this business. Why? To aid in the proliferation of information, and help people and businesses to expand and evolve their online presence. Before I started driving tractor-trailers I did own a business repairing computers. There was a major flaw in how I ran my business. Instead of being focused, I would work on anything related to a computer or electronics. I would work on virus removals, software setups, custom computer builds, networking, websites, alarm systems, camera systems, audio systems, custom electronic projects, and anything else that I could come up with. I would even do one on one teaching and education appointments. What happened was it became overwhelming and I ended up burning out. I was trying to do too much all at once and with no help. I was very young and did not quite understand what was needed to succeed in business. I learned quite a bit over the previous eight or nine years since I closed that business, and now I am reentering the business world and opening Dentico Web Solutions still with a lot to learn.
At one point my wife told me that I should think about going back into the computer world but niche myself down to just websites. To be honest, I kind of waved her off and said it was not a good idea. I still had such a bad taste in my mouth from back when I did have my computer repair business. But as many of you might know, your wife is usually right, and you should probably listen to her. It only took me about two or three months before I realized that she might be on to something because just making that comment had me thinking. That was the only little push that I needed to get that little itch. If you own a business, more than likely you know what I’m talking about. What I’m referring to is the desire to help customers and be able to share resources, services, and tools to create value. There is simply no better feeling than when you can do something for a customer, solve one of their biggest problems, and possibly change their entire life. With my computer repair business, I was able to do that all the time. After only a couple of months after my wife had mentioned the idea, that feeling was all I could think about.
Inspiration
As I grew up, I have always been around people that owned businesses. My father owns two businesses, an uncle owns a business, another uncle owns several businesses and various friends that own businesses. Both of my grandfathers owned businesses, but I never had the chance to know either of them. Owning a business seemed like a natural course for me, not to mention problem-solving which is a big part of owning a business is a lot of fun. Most of the businesses that I have been around are what is considered blue-collar. That world is very comfortable for me, and I enjoy working hard which is why I have enjoyed the last eight or nine years driving tractor-trailers. Driving a tractor-trailer was not fulfilling in comparison to providing customer service and creating value for a client. I needed to have that back in my life.
My family is another reason why I created Dentico Web Solutions. Driving a tractor-trailer consists of incredibly long days. I am often leaving for work before anybody else wakes up and arriving home close to dinnertime. Owning your own business, you work long hours too but you can slide your hours around to better accommodate your customers and your family needs. I may have to work while I am around my family and that is okay, but I will be able to see them way more than I do now.
Mission Statement and Core Values
You may have seen my mission statement, and core values on the home page. I would like to elaborate on them a little bit. My mission statement: “To empower people and businesses to expand their reach by evolving their online presence through an immersive customer experience implementing current techniques.” What I want to do for you is take your idea or your business and push you to the next level using tools and resources found on the internet. I will do this while providing you with the best customer service that I can. While promising you to always continue my education in this space so that I am always aware of the newest and current online best practices.
My core values: Ethical, Knowledge, Passion, Respect, Honesty, and Responsibility. So what is all this? These are the rules that I follow for my life and business. I will always keep a good moral compass while continuously updating my education to fulfill my obligation to my customers. Having enthusiasm and admiration for a customer’s dreams will keep me engaged in the project to provide the most value. Honesty is in my opinion one of the hardest core values. That may catch you off guard but hear me out. Most customers, when they hire a company to do something expect a vendor to do what they are told. If you ask me to do something for you that may not work the way that you think, I do not have a problem telling you that your idea is bad. I want you to succeed. I am committed to that. I will always do what my clients tell me to do in the end but I will speak up against you if I feel you are wrong.
Conclusion
I have more to write here but I wanted to make sure that I had some information up so you will know a little about who you are going to be working with.
