Websites
How long does it take to build a website?
That can be a complicated question. There are a lot of moving parts that have to go together inorder for a website to be up and running on the internet. The simplest answer I can give you would be 5 hours for an extremely simply website (one or two small pages) to 100 or more hours for a massive website with continuous development including a store and membership services.
What is a domain?
A domain in simple terms is your website’s address. By entering your domain into a web browser, you will be routed through many different networks until you reach your hosting server where all the files are located for your website. Your browser will then be able to download that data and display the complied information onto your screen. There are times that your request will actually travel thousands of miles in a matter of seconds to your computer or phone screen.
What is a SSL certificate?
An SSL certificate is fundamentally a way to create an encrypted connection between your browser and the hosting server. This makes any information that you enter into a website on your computer unreadable as it travels though the internet to the webserver protecting your privacy.
Writing Content
How to write good content?
Good content for a website is complete content. Once the reader is done you don’t want them to be looking for more information that you didn’t provide. Worse than that, do not create more questions and no place for them to get the answer. If you have a link to another post or page where they can find more information that would be even better. This would show the reader that they have found a great resource.
Do I need to give credit to sources?
Absolutely! How would you feel if you spent a few hours if not day working on something only to have someone basically copy what you posted and not share and link back to where they got that information. Not to mention Google wants to see links from your post to outside websites because it proves that your information can be verified.
Do I need to put a picture on every post?
This is almost always yes. If you are writing a blog post, a simple picture that relates to your article will increase the user experience on that page and will help you rank higher in search engines compared to a page that didn’t have any pictures. Now if you were writing a page that for some reason should not have any pictures then dont however I honestly can not think of any reasons why you wouldnt be able to add at leaset one picture.
